Which does make for a slightly odd list when you see it all together – it’s a mix of legends and total drivel… but who are we to judge? That’s the job of the judging committee.

Mercury Music Prize 2007-2009

By 2007 the Mercury Prize seemed to have largely forgotten about anything except rock, although it was still a compelling prize. The awards got another sponsor and another new name in 2009.
